France visa from the UAE: your FRA number, slot alerts and where to apply

Prepare your FRA number, get WhatsApp or Telegram alerts, compare Abu Dhabi with Dubai DAMAC Hills, and understand VFS Prime Time before you book.

Booking a France visa appointment from the UAE is easier to manage when the preparation is done before an opening appears. Get your France-Visas reference ready, decide where you want to submit your application, and use alerts to know when to check the booking calendar.

Start with your FRA number

Complete your application on France-Visas and save the reference assigned to it, commonly called your FRA number. Keep the reference for each applicant readily available: you will need it when arranging an appointment.

France-Visas and VFS are separate systems. The first prepares your visa application; the second handles appointment booking and document intake. Receiving a reference number does not mean that you have booked an appointment or submitted your documents. VFS explains this sequence in its France application FAQ.

Before waiting for slots, have your passport details, FRA references, VFS account access, email access and payment card ready. Check that the names and passport numbers you enter match your documents. Prepare the supporting documents using the checklist generated for your application.

Get France slot alerts on WhatsApp or Telegram

Once your FRA number is ready, connect Slotbys alerts for France from the UAE. Choose your application centre and receive notifications through WhatsApp or Telegram when we detect available appointments.

After an alert, open the official VFS booking website and complete the reservation yourself. Slotbys monitors openings and sends notifications; your appointment is secured only after VFS confirms the booking.

France often releases slots in batches

In the Slotbys team’s experience monitoring this route, France often releases a sizeable batch of appointments together. A batch can give applicants more opportunity to choose a date and complete the booking than a single newly available slot.

That is an observation from our monitoring, not an official release schedule or a promise that a particular date will remain available. There is no guaranteed booking window. Once an alert arrives, check promptly and work through the booking carefully rather than assuming you can return later.

Confirm the centre, appointment category and date before paying. Save the appointment confirmation when the booking is complete.

Abu Dhabi or Dubai DAMAC Hills?

For Dubai residents, the lowest centre charge is not always the lowest overall cost. France-Visas currently confirms that UAE residents, including residents of Dubai and the other northern emirates, can submit at the VFS centre in Abu Dhabi. VFS also describes a premium submission option at DAMAC Hills.

As a practical comparison from Slotbys experience, centre-related charges have been around AED 105 in Abu Dhabi versus around AED 400 in Dubai. Treat these as indicative examples, not current fixed tariffs or a complete visa budget. The consular visa fee is separate.

Using those example amounts, the difference is about AED 295 per person. If you live in Dubai and are applying alone, compare that saving with the return journey, transport costs and time away from work. Paying more to submit closer to home may be the more convenient choice. For a family, the difference adds up across applicants, so a trip to Abu Dhabi may make more financial sense.

Check the actual itemised total before choosing. The official pages currently differ: VFS lists a €25 base service fee, while France-Visas lists €30.33. Both describe payment in local currency at the applicable official conversion rate. VFS separately lists its Temporary Enrolment Location service at €80 per applicant. Do not assume the Dubai example includes every charge or optional extra.

What does VFS Prime Time mean?

Prime Time is an optional paid service for submitting an application outside the centre’s regular opening hours. It may suit applicants whose work or other commitments make a standard appointment inconvenient.

At the time of checking, VFS France UAE lists Prime Time at AED 182, including VAT. You are paying for the appointment time. The service does not speed up the consulate’s assessment or improve the chances of a positive visa decision. Check the available times and the surcharge displayed for your appointment. VFS optional services.

Prime Time and the DAMAC Hills submission option are different services. Prime Time concerns the time of your visit; TEL, or Temporary Enrolment Location, concerns the submission location and service. VFS lists TEL separately at €80 per applicant. Read the breakdown so you understand the base service fee, any location-related charge and any Prime Time supplement before paying.

Your checklist before the next opening

Have a FRA number for each applicant. Prepare the required documents. Choose the centres you are willing to visit and decide whether a Prime Time appointment would suit you. Enable your Slotbys WhatsApp or Telegram notifications, then keep your VFS login and payment details accessible.

When France appointments open, you can focus on choosing a suitable date and completing the booking.
